What to wear for your pre-shoot
A short, practical guide to choosing outfits that still look right in ten years.
The pre-shoot is the one session where you choose everything: the place, the clothes, the mood. A few things make it easier.
Choose comfort over the photograph
If an outfit needs constant adjusting, it shows in every frame. The clothes you move easily in always photograph better than the clothes that look best on the hanger.
Avoid loud patterns
Fine stripes and small checks can shimmer oddly in digital photographs. Solid colours and soft textures — linen, cotton, raw silk — hold up far better.
Let the two outfits speak to each other
They do not need to match. They do need to belong in the same photograph. Pick a shared tone and vary it.
Think about the location
Pale clothes against a tea estate or a green paddy field will glow. The same clothes against a white colonial wall will disappear. Tell us the location early and we will advise.
